Off to San Antonio!

Mike and I are sitting around waiting for Evan to wake up from his afternoon nap so I thought I'd post some as I sit in our hotel on the San Antonio Riverwalk! Here's Evan and Mike at Chicki & Pete's in the airport.

I think we have traveling thing down to a science now. I packed the day before we left... And Evan and I even had a late playdate. We met Audrey and her mom at their house after the kids' naps then drove down to Narberth for folk concert at the park/playground. We got back to the house at 9pm. I finished some laundry, went to bed, then woke up and - snap! We were ready! We had no arguments or last minute running around. Our departure time from the house was 10am and we were off driving to the airport by 10:05. Evan was very excited to go in the airplane for his 4th time. Twice we had trips to Orlando and once to Key West. Now he's broadening his horizons and getting away from Florida to TEXAS - yay!

He watched about 15 minutes of video.

Notice I had to shut the window to help him fall asleep? It took awhile...

Evan finally takes his nap on the plane.

Wake up, sleepy head. You're in Texas now!

Evan the Artist

Actually, he's not that big on drawing and painting... Unless it's on his own body or if he's finger painting. Here's the artiste at work. After painting this he threw his ball at it (the one that looks like a sea urchin) for added texture.

So proud!

I also have a cute little story that has nothing to do with these pictures. Mike had taken the car to work from my parents' house, so on my birthday Evan and I took the NJ Transit train from Atlantic City to Philadelphia. This was his 2nd train ride, the first being from Philly to NYC in the winter. It was pretty cute! Evan kept asking if he could take the ads down off the train walls. I said no because the conductor would yell at us. So he kept saying "I no take those down. Bus driver be mad." Then he kept digging in the seats and pretended to give me money. "Money for you, mommy!" I had to really wash his hands well after the ride because the train isn't the cleanest thing in the world and he had touched pretty much everything on it. He even had to peepee in the gross bathroom. Mike was there at 30th St. waiting for us!

Old Man and the Sea

Mike and Timmy didn't go "fishing" at the Deauville. They actually went fishing!

Carnage!

So he took sharky home and we named him Evan.

I have a funny story about this weekend. Evan got up at 5:30 am when my dad got up for work and was crying for me. I walked in and told him to go back to sleep and he asked me to lay down with him so I did for a little while. It is IMPOSSIBLE to sleep with Evan. He moves around, thrashes, kicks and attempts to fill in any negative space between him and mommy, thus pushing me off the bed. Everytime I started to drift off, I was woken up by my boy. This went on for about 15 minutes as far as I could tell because I was so tired. So I got up to leave. "Don't leave, mommy! Stay with me." So I said that I'd be right back. I went back to my bed and fell asleep. Around 8am I hear crying again. Evan's up! Then I heard my mom go in his room. And I hear him yell "Doe (go) away, Grandma! DOE AWAY!". So she walked away. 10 minutes later I walked into his room and got the same greeting. So I left him in his bed, left his door open and went back in my room to relax until he was ready. I was half asleep, but noticed him walking slowly into my room. He crawled in bed with me and let me snuggle him. My mom came in and sat on the bed and said "You were so mean this morning, Evan. What happened?" So he started his story... "I wake up, no mommy in Aunt Bitny's room (where he sleeps). Mommy in Mommy room. Said be right back. I cried." He was saying all of this with sweeping hand motions. Then he ended with "I cried." again with his one palm up as if to say "And so I cried". He looked so Italian with his hand gestures.

Here's Evan without pants at the beach. He had pooped in his swim trunks and I forgot to bring another set of clothes. You should've seen him kicking up his feet, flashing his hiney (and other things) in the ocean. Time to go home!

Poooop.

The bbq

Evan parties hard in his jeep. This night was his second in a row of a 10:30 bedtime... But we couldn't have him miss his daddy setting off the fireworks.

There were smoke bombs...

And volley ball...

The little guy is 4 year old Devon - my youngest cousin. He really played great, much better than I could. I'm the oldest grandchild on both mom and dad's side. I just turned 32! That's a 28 year difference.

Evan played too!

Evan also played inside with Olivia and Brynn... Brynn is Devon's older sis.

There's my cousin Heidi in the background. She just got engaged! As you can see, most of the kids on the Bock side are blonde.

OOOooo. It's getting dark.

Becky spun Evan around until they were both completely dizzy. Then they would stumble off and fall.

The Pyrotechnic Crew! Mike is mysteriously missing from this photo. He must be getting another beer. This is right before the guys start setting off the fireworks (see prev. post featuring Black Mamba.)

My parents' annual 4th of July bbq usually starts around 2pm and ends around 1am and this one was no exception. We also had a little excitement too. First of all, Evan pooped in the potty!!! Yay! He ran around to all guests and gave them the good news. Also, Jen and Ryan's cars were broken into! They found out at the end of the night when they got back to their cars, both of which were parked on the road. Janice came back to the party to search for their things in case they were tossed(she found a lot of Ry and Jen's stuff in the woods). The cops came. And Janice yelled at a passing kid on a bike (at 2am!) to give her son's s*** back. Seriously, what kid would be riding his bike at 2am on a rural road if he wasn't up to something? Poor Janice got to bed at 5:30 am. Mike and I went to bed at 1am and missed the whole thing. Today Aunt Wanda told the story to a coworker at Twp. Hall and the woman said she saw a bunch of stuff in the woods during her morning bike ride. Aunt Wanda searched and found more of their stolen stuff!

The next morning Evan pooped again - in his pants. He was standing on my bed and as I was laying there half asleep, a poop rolled out of his pant leg and landed on my sheets.

4th of July

Last year we watched the fireworks at Disney World... This year we walked to the field down the street from my parents' house. We all brought chairs, jumped on the moonbounce, played games for prizes and ate lots of junk food.

Sarah has arrived.

We all had glow rings.

After this we walked back and Evan went down for a 10:30 bedtime. His eyes were closing as he sat on his dad's shoulders.

Jamming out

Here is Evan favorite song list

1. Hot and Cold - Katy Perry
2. Poker Face - Lady Gaga
3. Punk Rock Girl - The Dead Milkmen
4. West Coast - Coconut Records

He makes me play no. 3 on my ipod constantly. "Pun Rock Girl, Mama! Play Pun Rock Girl again please?" He even knows a lot of the lyrics now and loves to yell "No! We only have it iced!" when the punk rock girl asked the waitress for hot tea. Sadly, Zipperhead mentioned in the song is no more. Last time we visited South St. it was something else. I have no idea when it exactly closed. Not that I ever shopped there, but I did have a friend that worked there when I was in college. I think it had been there since the 70s or at least the 80s I don't know... Anyway, now the car adapter for the ipod isn't working anymore. I think it was bored to death from playing the same song over and over.

I made Mike download the 1 & 2 on his ipod so I won't have to worry about those.

Here's Mike showing off the fireworks he bought for the big 4th extravaganza. Notice the crazy look in his eye as he holds the Black Mamba.

Tree climbing...

... In flip flops. Evan calls them slip-slops. He sometimes likes to wear his snow boots too.

Here's some other random stuff...

My mom and Evan made me two pineapple upside down cakes for my birthday (we always get to request a special dessert on our birthdays - I usually pick black-bottomed cupcakes or chocolate chip cake, but I had the urge for this). Evan is holding a weed in his hand that he picked for me for my birthday.

And look! Evan's little garden is in full bloom! Wow - Those tomatoes look store-bought!

And one of the pepper plants grew a banana! Evan and I really had Grandmom going. Ok, so the pepper and tomato plants aren't doing so hot, but the basil plants are beautiful and I picked a bunch to make bruschetta for the bbq tomorrow.

More beachie time

He loves to "shake and bake" - Play in the ocean to play then run back lay in the warm sand.

Here we are with Aunt Donna and Olivia.

Check out my awesome gut.

Mike's wearing Evan's hat here.

Storms-a-brewing! Such a pretty sky.
