First Day of PreK

You can see it's a good summer by Evan's legs. They're brown and covered in mosquito bites, cuts and bruises. And despite gallons of sunscreen even little Noah has color. He has worn onesies the whole summer - he hardly ever wears pants. It has been a busy, busy summer full of beach time, boardwalk rides, riding boogey boards at dusk in Stone Harbor, swimming in Aunt Genie's pool, playing at the new playset in our back yard (pics coming soon), bbqs, playdates, houseguests, the zoo and hanging out with the aunties, cousins and grandparents. It all kicked off with Noah's birth and moving to our new house. After the awful experience of house hunting and moving we haven't looked back and our little family had the best summer together especially with our little baby Noah.

Evan's not picking a wedgie... He's just holding his lunch box.

I had to turn Noah around because the sun was in his eyes. Then we walked to school!

Evan insisted on bringing his Diego sunglasses.

Evan's class is especially cute - and big. This year it's 16-18 kids.

Here's Evan's recap of his second day of school (he goes mornings Mon-Wed). He asked his teacher Miss Catie to bring him the bathroom. She helped him and her pencil fell in the toilet after he peed. He flushed the toilet and it went down and then back up. He offered to get it for her and she laughed and said she would get another one. The 4 fish in the tank are now like 20 because they had babies since the orientation.

Both days I walked over with Noah to pick up Evan expecting a running hug and a "MOMMY!" like at Green Lane. I got there and he gave me a smile as he sat and ate his lunch with the rest of the group. Then he forgot I was there. I don't know if he just likes it better then Green Lane or if he's just older now, or maybe he's just been bored to death with me caring for Noah, but he really loves it there so far (only 2 days so far). He asked if he could go Thursdays too. Mike and I are considering it. The second day at lunch a little girl was eating what looked like a tupperware container of beef stroganof. Evan wrinkled his nose and said, "Ew. That smells gross."

As for our little Noah, he nurses now infrequently. Better than nothing - yay! Once in the middle of the night and sometimes, SOMETIMES during the day. So I'm still expressing milk 5x day. Mike and I went out to Harpoon Henry's on the bay with our old neighbors one night without the kids and I felt a twinge of sadness when I saw a mommy nursing her daughter as the sun was setting over the water. I was sad because I missed the kids at that sunset... We usually bring them everywhere with us and I knew Evan would've loved the restaurant. He would've ordered a "crabby patty" and a salad with balsamic dressing. Also I was sad because Noah nursed regularly for only his first month and I miss that special mommy/baby bond. Nursing is much nicer then being milked by a crappy machine that I have to bring everywhere with me (I have my expensive one I keep at home and a cheaper one that I travel EVERYWHERE with). I think I'm going to reevaluate next month when I start Noah on solids. At that point I'm considering weening him off the breast milk for formula. Don't tell Mike. I suspect it will be much easier than Evan who nursed for over 2 years. Thank God he doesn't remember it. But the kid is obsessed with boobies. Obsessed.

Noah says, "I'm so cute! I'm the baby. Gotta love me. Even though I don't sleep through the night yet."
