hanging with Mima & PopPop

We practiced our animal sounds and words the day before they arrived and Evan showed off for his grandparents. Here are some highlights...

Here's Evan walking. This is not something he does all the time, we usually have to convince him to walk. He much prefers to crawl or walk on his knees. He obviously felt like showing off for Mima and PopPop here.

Evan loved hanging out with his PopPop (Evan can say PopPop now and said it as he saw Pop Pop's pics that I put in this entry).

Here we are walking home from lunch. We took Mima & PopPop past my doctor who took care of Evan in utero!

Mima reading Evan a story from Aunt Lee.

We had cheesecake for Pop Pop's early birthday. Evan had some too and thought it was quite yummy.

Hiking

Mike, Evan and I went hiking on Saturday down on Forbidden Drive. Just as a warning... I'm posting A LOT of photos here. They were so good I'm having a hard time deciding which ones to use...

Here's Mike with our little "red head".

I love cute little feet shots.

Evan and Mike spot some wilderness.

More feet! Evan loves squooshing his hands and feet in anything mushy or wet.

I love this shot.

We actually found baby clam shells and a full little clam! I have no idea how they got there. Also we saw a little black & yellow snake as we were walking. We tried to get Evan to hiss, but no such luck.

Mike and Evan on Fraggle Rock. hehehe

Evan was taking his time, so we stuck him back in the pack. Mike wanted me to "try" the pack. It sucked because it was adjusted for a taller body, forcing me to hunch over in pain. Mike thought it was great and whipped out the camera.

Then he made me walk up the hill back toward home, snapping pictures the whole way. For all of my grumbling, I loved his shots.

We ended our hike at the Henry James for some dinner and drinks. Mike is hiking up the big mountain here. Then we walked and got ice cream. 4.5 hours after we started, we got home. You could say we got some exercise, but we ate to make up for it.

Ziggy at the Circus

We had a great time at the circus tonight and the whole thing was free thanks to Mike's friend.

We got there early for the animal open house.

Elephants- cool!

Tigers - not so cool. Evan jumped about 3 feet in the air when the tigers started fighting...er... playing. One of the circus guys had to break it up. Afterward Evan kept growling everytime I said "growl like a tiger!"

We then went to the opening night media party for some free food, beach balls, clown noses and even a cupcake bar. Some of the circus folk were circulating through the party.

Remember this face with Sir Rod, Mr. Peanut and the Philly Phanatic?

Evan with the circus ladies. He had the same reaction to them that he did with the tigers. Notice his hand clutching my arm?

The ring master!

He did enjoy running around, then feeding me cupcakes and candy wrappers.

An elephant painted the thing Evan is sitting on!

Here's a jammie shot on the way out. Ziggy fell asleep in the car ride home as expected.

Evan grooves to vinyl

My family is not known for being up with the latest technology (my parents finally bought a cd player when everyone was starting to download music). Still I think it's cool to have Evan listen to all my and my sister's old records. My mom dug them out of the attic while Evan and I were at my parents' house, sick with yucky colds. Here we are listening to "It's a Small World". We also listened to "Froggy Went a Courting", which I used to listen to over and over again (along with Cindy Lauper, Blondie and Menudo). Froggy was much creepier than I remember.

Evan in the Great Outdoors

Here's Evan in our neighbors yard. We also hung outside yesterday in Aunt Ella's yard since the weather is so nice. Evan had a great time digging his hands and feet in the dirt. You can see him weeding Steph & Brandon's yard in the last shot.

Baby Mikey!

Michael, Gisella, baby Mikey, Rob, Steph, Dave & Lea came over for lunch today. That Mikey - awwww - so cute! Let the pictures speak for themselves... Look at these awesome little guys!

He smiles constantly. He seriously is the happiest baby on the planet.

Here's the boys club. Maybe someday Ziggy and Mikey will be sitting on a lifeguard stand like their daddies.

The hairy kid in the middle is Rob.

Here's Lea, Mikey & Gisella

Mike's still got the stuff. I wish Evan would've taken this lesson from Mikey and used a bottle.

Dave and Lea smile, but we all know this lunch was birth control reinforcement for them. Just kidding! The boys were seriously angels.

Michael and steph after I made them watch my "Evan's 1st Year" movie. See how they're nodding off?
