HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOMMY

Evan, Bobby Jack the monkey and the Uglyworm all burned the midnight oil last night and made mommy this birthday sign. They were the first to wish her a happy birthday. Evan also gave his mom a little present in his diaper! Evan has other plans for his mom to help celebrate her birthday, but they are double secret, so we will update them along the way. HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEPH!!!

Bottles are for babies. Real men use sippy cups!

Ya, he hates the bottle, but tolerates sippy cups! Right now I'm trying to have him drink a little water from it. He slops most of it down the front of him, but does drink some, judging by his hiccups. I'm going to try putting some booboo milk in the cup today and see how he handles it.

The Big Guy with his cup. Mike thinks he looks demonic here, but I think this picture is so cute! Notice how he's facing front in his stroller? Like a big boy!

Grandmom came to visit for a couple of days and here she is before she and Evan took a long walk down Forbidden Drive. It was a scorchingly hot day, but the trail is cool and shady. At one point I had to call them on my ma's cell to make sure everything was ok, because they had been gone for close to 2 hours. They were fine, but grandmom came back hungry and dehydrated. I met her at the middle of the trail with a bottle of water. Evan looked at her and started laughing. Little bugger.

And here's Elizabeth eating cake. Evan loved seeing all of his friends.

Proud Baby

Evan is sooooo proud of his daddy's big accomplishment this weekend. So am I! What an awesome baby's daddy!!! Evan's been working out too. When I was packing for the shore, I had him laying on his back on his rainforest mat. I looked down and he was on his stomach. Poor dude was pissed (he hates being on his belly). I think he was inspired by daddy's triathlon.

Hangin with PopPop and Uncle Larry

My mom (Grandma) and the aunts went to Jessica's dance show on Friday night so Evan and I went out to dinner with Uncle Larry and PopPop. We had a great time. Uncle Larry asked if I was feeding Evan solids yet. I said no. I then moved my salad plate away because Evan kept grabbing at it. I wasn't fast enough and he grabbed a crouton. I didn't notice until the soggy thing fell out of his mouth. Well, I guess Evan had a taste of his first solid food!

EVAN TRI's!

Here's a shot of Evan wearing his Daddy's finisher's medal from this weekend's Philadelphia Triathlon. Evan is training hard to take part in next year's Kid's Fun Run. In the mean time, he completes his own tri every day - he pees, he poops, and then he pukes.

EVAN ROLLS OVER !!!! (3x)

Momma has been waiting for this moment for a loooong time.

Today I was talking to Erik from work on speaker phone. I was sitting on the couch next to Evan, who was on his back on the chaise part of the couch. The phone was laying between us. Evan kept reaching for the phone as Erik spoke. He then ROLLED OVER onto his stomach and grabbed the phone! I started yelling 'Yay! Yay!'. Erik was like 'uh, what?'. I flipped Evan back onto his back and he did it again! I then grabbed the camera and called daddy (his work voicemail picked up). I put Mike's voicemail on speaker and tried to coax Evan to rollover again while I filmed. Evan came close, but no cigar and I used up all the memory on Mike's camera. However.... not soon afterward, I put up Evan for his nap - on his back. When I do that, he always rolls to the left, sucking on his paci and stares at the pattern on his crib bumper until he falls asleep, which is what he did. Two hours later I hear grunting on the baby monitor. I figure 'oh, Evan's awake. I'll go get him' and I walk in to find him propped up on both hands, his chest raised like he was trying to crawl ON HIS BELLY!

Here is a picture of our little stinker after a proud day of rolling over. I put him to bed after this shot. Evan's usually always facing the other direction in the morning. He somehow scootches himself around until his head is facing the opposite side of the crib. But who knows, maybe I'll find him flipped over when he wakes up! We shall see...

Pool Time

I tried to blow up Evan's pool from the oriental trading co. store down the street and realized it was just too hard. I considered waiting for daddy to come home since he's full of hot air (especially since eating 8 pounds of meat at the Brazilian steakhouse). But then I saw my neighbor, Alison, who let me borrow her exercise ball pump. It worked great after I taped a crack in the plastic pipe. Evan was ok about the pool. By the time we got outside it was pee warm. Plus I had covered him in a hat, shirt, diaper and swim shorts (and sunscreen) to keep his skin from the sun. The diaper swelled up to 3x it's size. I finally just took off the poor kids pants and let him splash around naked from the waist down. He was much happier then. He's our little exhibitionist.

Evan likes the bubble sounds coming out of Crabby

No peeing in the pool! ya right

Evan On Main Street

We checked out a venue for the after-baptism partaaay tonight, and on the walk home, Philly's finest let us take some shots of Evan next to their truck. Evan wasn't scared of the truck, or the gargoyle either!

Phillies Phather's Day

Rounding out my amazing first Father's Day, Evan and Steph took me to the Phillies game today. Although the Phil's didn't cooperate with a win, we still had a great time, as Pop Pop, Grandmom and Aunt Brittany joined us at the game. Here I am with Evan right after the game finished in front of our section.

Evan loved the game, but was ready for a little lunch when this picture was taken.

Steph with her father, wearing the give-away for the day, the Phillies straw hat! How pretty does she look here?!

Grandmom and Aunt Brittany were a big help during the game, and Evan couldn't be happier!

My BEST Father's Day Ever!

First and foremost, Happy Father's Day to our fathers, and all the fathers that we know. If your day was even a fraction of how special my day was, you are indeed very fortunate. My Father's Day started early - I had to attend a conference on Saturday, and when I came home, Evan was wearing this shirt. Could he be wearing anything more appropriate?

Then Evan gave me a Father's Day card. He had his Mommy draw a picture of us together. He worked on it with his Mommy like a police sketch artist works. I think they did a great job!

Then Evan gave me some presents! As you can see, he got me a case of Corona Light, and even thought to get limes with it too! Plus, he gave me a digital picture frame that I can take with me to work to put on my desk. I love it, and it's a good thing too, because that is the receipt on top of the present, torn in two and chewed up a bit. Evan used it as a teething toy for a while. Regardless, it's an awesome one, because it shows pictures, plays videos, and even plays Mp3's! I'll be DJ Mike, keeping everyone at work updated on Evan's progress with hundreds of photos and videos, adding music from my iPod. Wikki, Wikki...wik wik wik!

Finally, Evan took me to the new Brazilian steakhouse in Philly, Fogo de Chao. Paradise Found is what I call it. I ate so much that my head was spinning - and that was 10 minutes after our arrival. They have an amazing salad bar, but I stayed far away from it. Salad bars are for suckers inside a Brazilian steakhouse. (Except for Steph, who is a vegetarian and was THE BEST for bringing me there even though it probably would not have been her first choice. But hey, It' Father's Day!) At one point, the waitress saw the look in my eyes and told me that it was OK to be full. I took that as a personal challenge and flipped my sign to green right in front of her to announce my presence with authority! The Gaucho was on us in a heartbeat, slicing up more meat on my plate and I almost puked. Steph thinks Evan will follow in her footsteps and be a vegetarian, because of the shell-shocked look in his eyes. I think it's because just before this picture was taken, I was in a bit of a feeding frenzy and mistook his arm for a delicious piece of chicken wrapped in bacon and nibbled on it...

My Grandma's a Fox

I don't know how to turn off the flash, but I'm sure the two grandmas get the idea.

Evan's 5th Month Birthday

Yaaaay, big boy - growing out of your crib so now we can't shoot the picture of you laying down sideways anymore! I'm going to post a better picture of this shirt for the grandmothers....

Evan's Toys

Once again we forgot to take a picture of Evan on his actual birthday. Mommy will try to remember for tomorrow. In the meantime, Aunt Wanda, Sarah and Grandmom visited us today. We walked to the coffee shop for lunch then went to the chinese trading company store where grandmom bought Evan a squishy soccer ball (Aunt Wanda bought 3 porcelain dolls, not for Evan). However, at the coffee shop, Evan discovered his new favorite toy: cuppy.

Here's a picture of cuppy. We picked it out of the trash. Just kidding!! It was a CLEAN plastic cup that was stacked with the others by the water pitcher. Evan crushed it. He likes to wear it on his hand, which he then inserts into his mouth

What a badass pink keyboard!
I bought Evan this yesterday at Target so that he can play away like he did at Jack's. This was the only one I could find and Evan's more interested at touching the plastic flowers on it rather than hitting the keys.

We Have Raspberries...

It seems like the young lad is learning new things every day. Today, he started doing raspberries on demand! We, of course, encouraged this, as we are headed the Phillies game on Sunday and this will come in handy. (Listen closely towards the end of the video to hear Burrell hit one out of Citizen's Bank Park during the Phil's 3-0 win over the White Sox tonight!)

The Piano Man

Evan borrowed his cousin Jack's keyboard at his house recently and showed us all that he can jam! Is he a prodigy or what - this is the first time he's ever seen a keyboard. And he's only 4 months old here! Notice the string of drool that comes out of his mouth as he plays. hehehe. Seriously, the kids in the Cronin/Gifford families are so advanced for their ages.

Mystery Woman

I had to put this up as a comparison. Who is this woman hanging out with my sister's boyfriend? It's Brit With Straigtened Hair. Unbelievable!

Hot Mama! Brittany's going to kill me for posting this. She totally posed as a joke, but I had to do it.

Carly's Wedding Celebration

My cousin Carly had a picnic today to celebrate her marriage to Bob. I came home and downloaded the photos to discover that I hadn't taken any pictures of Carly or my other cuz Heidi. Not one. Just pictures of Evan! Evan and Josh - what?! I'm such a selfish, SELFISH person. It's all about my son and that's it. My son and Josh.

'Josh, why are you giving me the evil eyebrows?'

Much better

Jack's Birthday

First of all, Kelly is the best party planner EVER. Not only was she calm and collected getting ready for the celebration with housguests (us) over, but it was the coolest theme I ever saw. Jack loves construction equipment and that was the theme. There were orange cones to hold drinks (straws pop out the top), construction signs, plastic hard helmets for the kiddies and a construction site cake, baked and designed by Kelly. It was seriously the greatest kid party ever and we had such a blast. Here are some pics:

Kelly with Jack coming downstairs to see the party after a nap:

And Jack had his own moonwalk! Here's Evan with his heinie on top:

And the cake...

Jack blowing out candles...

And the decorations....

Here's the next day... I just posted this one because it's cute. Jack's posing like he should have a bear skin rug under him and a roaring fireplace in the background. HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY JACK!!! We had a blast!

Cousin, you're the coolest!

We've been soooo bad!

Yes, we've got several complaints that we haven't been updating our baby's website (ahem, Aunt Kelly, Aunt Ella and Mima).... I blame Evan for lack of time. Just kidding! He's perfect and as of today June 9, 2007, he slept through the night for the VERY FIRST TIME!!!! This is how it all happened. Evan and I met Mike at the office. Mike took Evan while I walked to the salon on 16th & Walnut to get my nails done. It was so weird walking there without my baby. He's such a part of my identity now and it sounds stupid, but I felt sorta like half a person without him strapped to my front or pushing him in his stroller. He usually goes EVERYWHERE with me. He's so mellow and happy that it's so easy to take him anywhere. So anyway, Mike and Evan met me at the salon and then we went to this delicious vegan restaurant called Horizons where Moby and M. Knight Shyamalan ate. It was awesome and of course, Evan was awesome. I did have to breastfeed him there, but vegans don't care. He pooped, so I changed him in the parking lot. He fell asleep in his carseat until we got home. I went potty, came downstairs and he and his daddy were watching tv. I took him upstairs, fed him again, laid him in his crib awake. He smiled, turned over, closed his eyes and he was out. Okay, he did get up once a little after 11pm. He woke up crying (probably because of the thunderstorm and the heat. We don't have central air), so I gave him some booboo milk and he passed out instantly. I didn't hear peep until 6am! YAYYYYY! He was starvin' marvin. I fed the dude again and he passed out until 6:30. Here's a photo of our darling for your viewing pleasure,
