Birthday Boy's Update

So we went to his 2 year well baby visit and got some great news... Evan is now just over 28 pounds and in the 51 percentile for weight! That's way up from 1 percentile 6 months ago. He's definitely has filled out quite a bit. The doc even said that I should stop giving him a multivitamin because now he should get all his nutrition from food and keeping up with the vitamin might stop him from eating certain things.
Here are some more stats... He's just a half inch shy of 3 feet tall. That's the 78 percentile in height. His head is 19.5 - that's the 72 percentile.

Okay, so I started this entry on Saturday afternoon, then saved it right after a phone call to Mima & PoPo and before Mike, Evan and I were going to our favorite restaurant with our gift certificate to see Evan's waitress girlfriend. Mike was bragging to his parents about how well Evan's doing on the potty lately (only about 1 accident a day!) We were also so excited because lunchtime was the first time Evan ate cooked carrots since his baby food days! I had reintroduced the carrots several times since with no success, but this time I sauteed a cup of carrots in olive oil, cinnamon and a little maple syrup and he ate them up, along with a half cup of asparagas/roasted pepper soup, 3 fish sticks and a lot of dried cranberries. It was an incredible lunch and we were feeling way too smug about Evan's food intake. Then the s*** hit the fan.

Evan became very quiet during the phone call and stood very still - sure sign that he was pooping. He also started to become very whiney and wouldn't say anything on the phone. I ran upstairs to put on makeup and he started to cry for me at the bottom of the steps. He was dressed so cute in the sweatshirt that his Aunt Kelly gave him for his birthday and wearing his little red sneakers. I came downstairs and carried him to the potty to try to poop when he threw up all over the bathroom and his little outfit. He had the stomach flu that Mike and I just got over! He's been a little rag doll ever since and won't move or talk. All he says is "trashcan". Which means 'bring over the trashcan. I'm going to puke'.

So now it's Monday night and Evan hasn't eaten anything since that fateful Saturday lunch. Too much liquids instantly cause him to puke. I've done literally 6 loads of laundry since yesterday, washing pukey clothes and such. I've cleaned the bathroom 3x in one week since all 3 of us have been sick. I hate winter. I want to move someplace warm.

On a lighter note, here are some shots of our superbowl "party" consisting of the 3 of us. Evan watched a little Puppy Bowl then went to bed. This is during his brief day of feeling good. The next day was terrible again.

And here's our raging Superbowl party last year.

And Evan's very first Superbow. Notice Mike's holding Evan's Superbowl game sheet? I wonder who's going to win this year. hmmmm

Evan's Birthday Extravaganza

Let me first say that Evan is the luckiest boy ever. We have so many people that love him. Thank you everyone who loves him whether you came to the party or not. We love you all too!

So here it is! Take a look at his little face... need I say more?

Mike, not Evan.

Who would've thought that me, an Elmo hater, would pay to have Elmo attend my son's birthday party. All I can say is that everything changes once you have kids. EVERYTHING. Meanwhile my poor little Grover was at home crying...

To be honest, Evan's birthday started on the actual day - Jan 14. We took him to an incredibly scary/dirty Chuck E. Cheese in South Philly. Many of the rides were broken and we didn't make eye contact with anyone. I was very sick for both his real birthday and his party (and actually I'm still a little sicky now) so I was like a big slug. Evan loved the restaurant, so we stayed for almost 3 hours. When we noticed it was past his bedtime, we cashed in his 4 million Chuck E. tickets for a couple of plastic bugs and fizzy bath tablets (they didn't fizz when we used them) and got the hell outta there. Anyway here's the real party at the Brew Pub...

Here are my sister and cousins...

What Evan did to the cake...

And our surprise guest - Elmo himself! The kids' reactions were half and half. Some loved him (Mikey) other immediately broke out into tears.

Elmo broke out the limbo stick and parachute which were both a huge hit with the kiddies. Just look at those little faces!

Christmas with the Dalys, Toussaints & UB

We definitely stretch out Christmas here, but it's just too much fun to end early. We had a great time with everyone... Of course our camera exploded, but thankfully Danielle and UB had some photos.

Poor Avery. We made her hug Evan about 20 times.

Here's all of the kiddies: Avery, UB, Colin & Evan.

And here's a preview of our Christmas cards that just arrived January 7. Everyone should be expecting one before Valentines Day.

Wedding Stuff

Here's what you didn't see - the after party! I know this is Evan's blog, but I think he'll appreciate this some day.

Uncle Larry busting a groove. Just picture that Kylie Minogue song playing in the background "La La La La La La La La"

And my husband! O dear God

Young Lovers.

Chris looks on jealously

And the old gang. If this was 20 years ago, we would've all broke out into wrestle mania and Ryan would've ran off crying because Becky had taken it a step too far and kicked him in the face.

Then we all went back to house that everyone was renting and pulled Santa Claus and a few other mannequins out of the basement. Becky and Ryan set him up at their parents' door for a little morning surprise, thus starting an all-out Holden war.

Bob wasn't pleased to have Father Christmas fall on him the next morning. Santa looks so sad and beaten here. He's like - Enough, Holdens. Please set me back up in my home in the basement.

Just like old times!
