Baby's First Halloween ... Finally!

Evan was a chicken this year because he LOVED chickens at 5 mos. old. Well, at Key West we noticed that chickens don't thrill him like they did when he was a little baby. He liked them, but we didn't get any belly laughs. Oh well, he was still the cutest thing ever. Mike, my mom and I even dressed up, but we were not the cutest things ever.

Now he's dressed and ready to Trick-or-Treat

The Chicken Family is ready to go. The funny thing is that some of the houses we went to took pictures of us! We were the hit of Martin Street. Mike picked up the chicken hoods in Chile, and he bought the boas in New Orleans. I guess his business trips really did come in handy!

The baby chick with 2 old hens

This is Evan's VERY FIRST TRICK-OR-TREAT!! This guy let us take his picture because he was Evan's first stop.

Evan loved grabbing the candy and shaking it. He would hold it until the next house when we'd take it from him and drop it into the pumpkin so he could get more AND MORE.

Evan is following the footsteps of his parents by doublefisting candy bars.

We asked someone if we could pose on his porch because it was so cute.

Here I am pushing those older brats... er... kiddies aside to get my little guy in there to get some candy!

Help yourself to the candy, rookie, not the sign!

Much better

Ooooo. It's getting daaaarker. spooky

Even Mike went Trick-or-Treating! He got a beer and was invited back to this dude's house for his mom's homemade baked ziti. I'm not kidding.

Dogs were trick-or-treating too!

So Evan's first Halloween was a huge success. He loved trick-or-treating and meeting people. Most people gave him extra candy because he was so cute. After walking around, Mike, Evan and I went home and passed out candy with our neighbors on their porch. My mom went back to NJ, because my cousins traditionally end their Halloween night at my parents' house when my mom puts a whole pineapple in each of their candy bags. What a night!

I'll end on something spooky

Wild weekend

Evan is always on the move. Mike and I are too and it's sorta taking toll on my sanity, but hey! So last weekend we went to NYC. Mike was there for "bidness" and Evan and I tagged along. Our hotel was awesome, even if the room was small. Check it out www.hotelhudson.com. Ev and I strolled the city in the rain and then hung out with Aunt Brittany at Howard TV On Demand. Evan took his first subway ride. It was a little hectic hauling his enormous stroller up and down the steps. Some nice New Yorkers helped us up and down, including some poor lady with a bum arm and a limp. We stayed for about 5 hours at Brit's job and met everyone. The view from the place is out of this world. You can see the Statue of Liberty and a trapeze school!

Here's Evan working hard at Brittany's desk. Notice all the photos in her office are of Evan...

Evan also hung out with Brit's bosses - Howard TV On Demand's Executive Producers Doug Goodstein and Mike Gange. They wanted to hire Evan, but who needs to work when you're so DAMN CUTE!

Brit's coworkers gave Evan toys to play with. Here's Evan with Producer Richie Wilson and a boxing glove.

Evan was sooo tired when we left. Here's Evan and Brittany waiting for a cab after we left Brit's work. It's almost 7pm I think. The thermal bag holding his food is leaking all over the place. Look at those beautiful faces! Awwwwwww

Evan's first cab ride (sans a car seat). We didn't feel like taking the subway back.

The next day we ate lunch at this Belgian cafe that had yummy organic food. Evan and I found it our first day and ate for pretty much every meal, except for the night that I had Goldfish crackers for dinner.

Wild Weekend cont...

Ya, so then Brittany, Evan and I drove from NYC to South Jersey to go to Sarah and Chris's birthday and to hang out with the family. Mike meanwhile was taking a flight out to New Orleans the next day. When we pulled up to my ma's there was this ghost balloon under the house light. It was so spooky in the dark and the rain. hehehe. See the balloon below when we brought it inside the next day.

Happy Birthday toooo yoooou!

I made this wonderful cake for them. Just kidding. I ate it, but I didn't make it. The next day I walked over for more.

Here's at the birthday on Friday night... Evan and my cousin Jeff.

Evan loves pointing to eyes. Good thing Aunt Donna has her safety glasses on.

There's always a Halloween theme for Chris and Sarah's bdays, so Aunt Wanda broke out the glow sticks. The flash totally washes out the glow, but we had the lights off here.

Brittany's doing her glow stick dance.

Here's Evan eating his dinner. We keep him on a very strict glowstick diet.

Jessica's putting a glow stick in Olivia's chicken mouth. Take note of this chicken hood. It will appear again on Halloween, but I have to get the pics from my momma.

Olivia also tried on Evan's chicken costume.

Evan and Sarah are opening gifts.

Here's the next day. Evan's wearing his skeleton sweatshirt from Aunt Kelly, Uncle Mike & Jack. He's eating our subway card from New York. I gave the card to my mom for the next time she visits Brittany. Too bad it has some toothie marks now.

And the ghostie balloon! Ooooo... spooky!

I'll leave you with this disturbing photo.

So now we're going to leave for Key West. Stay tuned for those pics and our Halloween photos (they're on my mom's camera. I thought I lost ours, but it was in the diaper bag the whole time).

Wild Weekend Part III

Oops.... not at Key West yet. Evan and I stopped at Colin, Avery, Danielle and Mark's Halloween party on the way back to Philadelphia. We got lost on the way because our mapquest directions sucked, but it was totally worth it. Of course, the batteries in my camera died, but the Daly's house was awesome! It was decorated in ghosts and monsters with spooky music and even an inflatable haunted house in the back yard. We arrived just in time for the pumpkin pinata which got beaten by a bunch of little guys in costume. Here's a pic of Evan, Avery & Colin (Danielle sent over this one). And I have a pic of an inflatable gargoyle in the front yard - the only photo I was able to take!

Oh no they didn't

Oh yes we did! This was one of Sarah's surprises for Evan... She used her school's library and printed out a larger-than-life Evan face in a dot pattern- one page at a time. I surprised Mike by hanging it above our bed. This is how much we are obsessed with our son. hehehe

Fall Weekend at Mima & PopPop's

We visited Mima and PopPop this weekend and attended their end of summer/beginning of fall dinner. We hung out with Jack, Aunt Kelly, Uncle Mike, Aunt Sue, Uncle Paul, Granny & Grandpa Gifford. We had so much fun - especially Evan! I think he thought Mima and PopPop's house was the most awesome house ever and had a great time playing with all of the cool toys. He even cruised around in a walker for a bit. We had a yummy dinner and Evan got some great gifts from Paul and Sue (a set of blocks in different shapes that fit through holes in a toolbox), a little ghostie from Granny & Grandpa Gifford and a Jack-o-lantern candy holder that had a glow-in-the-dark skeleton sweatshirt (which you will see him in later this week) from Kelly, Mike and Jack (there was even candy in it for me and Mike!) Evan got a lottery ticket and little baby pumpkin from PopPop and Mima. The kid pretty much made out like a bandit. Evan had a great time playing with Aunt Sue, cracking up with Mima and eating toast with PopPop. Here are some highlights (I forgot to take pictures at the dinner, but we'll just have to snag some from Kelly).

Here's everyone when we arrived Friday night. Evan's wearing the pjs Jack picked out for him.

This morning Evan got up at 6am (yay) and we went outside to check out the sandbox on the deck. It was cold, so we were only outside for a few minutes. Evan started yelling when I tried to take him away from the sandbox. I promised that we'd come out again when it warmed up, so after breakfast we went out and played with Daddy and Mima.

Here's Mima blowing bubbles... Notice the big kid in the sandbox too. We had to shake sand out of Evan's sockies and shoes (and daddy's sweet sweatpants) after playtime.
