Bum Finger

We'll start on a good note. Here's Evan a week after the "bum finger" event at his t ball opening ceremony/first game! He wasn't allowed to participate because of "bum finger", but at least he made the Cape May Count Herald (and another local paper... maybe the Gazette?) Same photo. Also, see assistant coach Mike Cronin? And Coach Ty! Noah loves Coach Ty. Our first tball practice ran past the boys' bedtime and Noah started losing it on the floor of the batting cages because he wasn't allowed to bat. Coach Ty picked him up and Noah laid his head on coach's shoulder and almost passed out. He loves hi-fiving coach Ty and always lifts up his arms to be picked up. It's so cute!
And now the bad news. It happened during a shopping trip to Home Goods. Evan was riding at the bottom of a double decker shopping cart and stuck his finger on the wheel (stupid on my part - I know! I just had to pick my battles since Noah was dangerously close to freaking out since it was naptime. I guess it got sucked in somehow and ripped off his finger nail! Evan, Noah and I rushed to pick up Mike and go to the emergency room. Luckily Jackie was working at the er that day and so was the mom of one of Evan's tball friends from last year. They took good care of our brave little soldier. His middle finger was messed up too, but not nearly as bad as his pointer. Look at the blood on his little uniform pants!
When they started to take care of him, he didn't cry at all. Everyone raved about how brave his is. Noah just fell asleep in his stroller since it was his naptime.
Now our boy is doing great. We don't know if his fingernail will grow back or not or if it will grow back malformed, but Evan's back in tball and also doing track and field. He insists it's fine and that the "nail is growing back!" but it isn't . Yet. He also immediately dubbed it his "bum finger" and sometimes he calls it his "dumb finger".
